What we do

Three layers, one program.

Spiral Health is not a software company that discovered healthcare. It is a movement-therapy practice that kept rebuilding its delivery mechanism until the whole thing fit in a pocket.

01 · Methodology

A clinical method, written down.

The company began at a treatment table, not a keyboard. Its founder codified what worked into an integrated postural and movement methodology, an approach concerned with how the whole body organizes itself rather than with the spot that hurts.

Every product generation since has been that same methodology reaching a bigger room.

02 · Technology

Software that can see how you move.

The Neural Code reads movement through an ordinary phone camera and classifies it into one of eight movement patterns, with multi-frame scoring and a confidence measure. That classification is what assembles each person's daily exercise program.

03 · Care

Software scales the care. It doesn't replace the person.

Flexa gives AI guidance in chat around the clock. Humans are reached a different way: by scheduled video appointment with the care team, included as an annual allotment in our employer and Medicare programs.

We say that plainly because the distinction matters to the people relying on it.

Alongside the commercial product we run mission-driven public-health work. We list the one with an operating record, rather than padding the page with concepts, because a company that inflates its early ideas can't be believed about its mature ones.

Rural Health Initiative

In much of rural America the nearest physical therapist is an hour's drive and the waitlist runs weeks. We have worked on that gap since 2018, when our mobile scanning unit ran postural screening at the Wyoming Health Fairs in Gillette, then Buffalo in 2019, and on to six Wyoming scan locations. The work was formalized as the Rural Health Initiative in 2021.

Technology

The Neural Code.

The Neural Code is a biomimetic movement-recognition system created by Dr. Sheila Nirenberg (Cornell; MacArthur Fellow) and licensed to Spiral Health exclusively and worldwide for musculoskeletal applications, in perpetuity (US Patent 11,883,153). It works from any phone camera: no wearables, no depth sensors, no clinic hardware.

How we describe privacy. Flexa uses your camera to read how you move. Your four posture photos become joint positions and angles; your six guided movements are read by the Neural Code, which classifies them into one of eight movement patterns. That movement data powers your program. We are engineering toward on-device processing; that work is in development, and we describe it that way rather than as something already shipped.

The Neural Code is licensed, not invented here. Its origin belongs to Dr. Nirenberg and Cornell. Attribution discipline is part of being a credible health company.

Evidence

Evidence, kept in its lanes.

The movement methodology we deliver has been studied in NIH- and Harvard-cited clinical work, including the SPINE CARE randomized clinical trial (JAMA, 2022; n = 2,971 across 33 centers, enrolled 2017–2020), whose individualized postural therapy arm was delivered in person. In that body of research the approach showed roughly 46% greater pain reduction than traditional care at three months, and 77% at one year.

That evidence belongs to the methodology and the clinicians who delivered it, not to our app. Flexa's own product-level outcome studies are in progress, and until they report we will not imply otherwise. Partners tell us this discipline is unusual. We think it should be table stakes.
